CLEAR’s Accomplishments

CLEAR hosted numerous speakers on addiction and recovery including First Lady Nancy Reagan, Senator Harold Hughes, Journalist Bill Moyers, William Cope Moyers, William White, Dick B., Christopher Kennedy Lawford among others. (1978-2015)

CLEAR was selected to be a Demand Treatment Partner, a national initiative funded by The Robert Woods Foundation, under the leadership of Join Together and Boston University School of Public Health which launched the first ER Screening Project in PA (2000-2004).

CLEAR advocated for parity for the treatment of alcoholism and drug addictions with the PA Attorney General and insurance companies.

CLEAR partnered with QED Communications to support the “Close to Home” series on addiction produced by Journalist Bill Moyers. CLEAR hosted Mr. Moyers in his live Pittsburgh appearance and organized a helpline for PBS viewers to call during the broadcast. (1998)

CLEAR co-sponsored “Diagnosis 89” Conference with Allegheny County Medical Society to address the growing challenges of addiction. (1989)

CLEAR helped institute the first adolescent in-patient alcohol and drug treatment center at the former St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh. (1979)
